Post-Publication Discussion

1. Post-Publication Discussion Policy

The journal is committed to promoting transparency, scholarly dialogue, critical evaluation, and continuous improvement in scientific publishing. The journal recognizes that scholarly evaluation does not end with the publication of an article and that post-publication discussion is an essential part of maintaining the integrity, reliability, and development of scientific knowledge.

Post-publication discussion provides opportunities for readers, researchers, academics, and other members of the scholarly community to submit constructive comments, critical observations, methodological questions, and evidence-based concerns regarding articles published in the journal.

The journal welcomes responsible academic discussion intended to clarify research findings, improve scientific interpretation, address potential errors, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.

All post-publication discussions will be managed fairly, objectively, professionally, and in accordance with established publication ethics principles.

2. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion

Post-publication discussion may address scientific, methodological, ethical, or interpretative issues related to articles published in the journal.

Topics eligible for discussion include:

  1. Research Methodology: Questions or concerns regarding research design, sampling procedures, data collection, research instruments, analytical methods, and methodological limitations.

  2. Research Findings: Critical observations concerning the accuracy, validity, reliability, consistency, or interpretation of published findings.

  3. Data and Evidence: Requests for clarification regarding data presentation, statistical analysis, supporting evidence, or the availability of research data.

  4. Scientific Interpretation: Alternative interpretations, theoretical perspectives, or evidence-based arguments concerning the implications of published research.

  5. References and Citations: Questions concerning the accuracy, relevance, completeness, or appropriate attribution of cited literature.

  6. Research and Publication Ethics: Concerns related to originality, authorship, research integrity, ethical approval, conflicts of interest, or other publication ethics matters.

  7. Corrections and Clarifications: Identification of possible errors, omissions, ambiguities, or inconsistencies requiring clarification or editorial consideration.

Post-publication discussion must focus on scholarly content and evidence rather than personal criticism of authors, reviewers, editors, or other individuals.

3. Submission of Comments and Concerns

Readers, researchers, authors, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments, questions, or concerns through the journal's official editorial contact.

Submissions should contain sufficient information to allow the editorial team to identify and evaluate the issue.

Where possible, submissions should include:

  1. The title, author names, publication year, and DOI or URL of the article concerned.

  2. A clear explanation of the comment, question, criticism, or concern.

  3. Relevant scientific arguments, references, evidence, or supporting documentation.

  4. The name and contact information of the individual submitting the comment, where appropriate.

  5. A declaration of any relevant competing interests that could influence the submitted commentary.

Comments may be submitted through the journal's designated email address or another official communication channel provided on its website.

The journal may also consider anonymous reports when they contain credible and verifiable evidence, particularly when the concerns involve research integrity or publication ethics.

Submission of a comment does not automatically guarantee its public publication. All submissions are subject to editorial assessment.

4. Editorial Assessment of Post-Publication Comments

The Editor-in-Chief or a designated handling editor is responsible for conducting an initial assessment of comments and concerns submitted after publication.

The editorial assessment aims to determine whether the submission is relevant, evidence-based, scientifically meaningful, and consistent with the journal's publication ethics standards.

The editorial team may:

  1. Review the scientific relevance and supporting evidence of the submitted comments.

  2. Request additional clarification or documentation from the commenter.

  3. Refer scientific or methodological questions to the corresponding author.

  4. Seek independent expert assessment when specialized technical evaluation is required.

  5. Refer suspected research misconduct to the journal's Research Misconduct and Allegations of Misconduct procedures.

  6. Determine whether the issue requires a public response, formal correction, expression of concern, retraction, or another appropriate editorial action.

Comments containing defamatory statements, discriminatory language, personal attacks, irrelevant promotional content, or unsupported accusations may be declined or moderated.

Editorial evaluation must remain impartial and must not suppress legitimate scientific criticism solely because it challenges the conclusions of a published article.

5. Author Responses and Clarifications

Authors are encouraged to respond constructively and professionally to substantive scientific comments or concerns regarding their published work.

When the editorial team determines that a comment requires author clarification, the corresponding author may be contacted and requested to coordinate a response with the relevant co-authors.

Author responses should:

  1. Address the questions or concerns raised by the commenter.

  2. Provide clear scientific explanations supported by relevant evidence.

  3. Clarify methodological choices, analytical procedures, or interpretations when necessary.

  4. Provide additional information or supporting documentation when reasonably requested.

  5. Acknowledge confirmed errors or limitations and cooperate with appropriate corrective measures.

Authors should avoid personal arguments, unsupported assertions, or attempts to discourage legitimate scholarly criticism.

The editorial team may facilitate further communication between the commenter and the authors when necessary to clarify unresolved scientific issues.

A failure to respond may be considered in the editorial assessment but will not automatically constitute evidence of research misconduct.

6. Post-Publication Review and Independent Evaluation

When a post-publication concern raises substantial questions regarding the scientific validity, reliability, or integrity of a published article, the journal may initiate an additional editorial assessment.

This process may involve independent subject specialists, statistical reviewers, research methodology experts, or other appropriately qualified individuals.

Post-publication review may include:

  1. Reassessment of the research methodology and analytical procedures.

  2. Verification of relevant data, figures, tables, or supporting materials.

  3. Evaluation of specific scientific criticisms or identified inconsistencies.

  4. Examination of additional evidence submitted by readers or authors.

  5. Assessment of whether the published conclusions remain sufficiently supported by the available evidence.

Post-publication review is not necessarily a repetition of the original peer review process. Its purpose is to evaluate identified concerns and determine whether additional clarification or editorial action is required.

Independent reviewers involved in the assessment must maintain confidentiality, disclose relevant competing interests, and provide objective evaluations.

7. Publication of Comments and Responses

The journal may publish selected post-publication comments, author responses, editorial clarifications, or formal scholarly correspondence when they provide meaningful contributions to scientific discussion.

Publication may take the form of comments associated with the original article, letters to the editor, formal commentaries, author responses, or editorial notices, depending on the journal's available publication mechanisms.

Before publication, submitted commentary may undergo editorial screening, revision, or independent review when appropriate.

Published comments and responses should clearly identify the article being discussed and include appropriate author attribution and disclosure of competing interests.

Where technically supported, published commentary and related responses should be linked to the original article to facilitate transparent scholarly discussion.

The journal retains editorial responsibility for determining whether comments and responses are suitable for public dissemination.

8. Handling Research Integrity and Ethical Concerns

Concerns involving possible plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, image manipulation, citation manipulation, inappropriate authorship, or other forms of research and publication misconduct will be handled under the journal's Research Misconduct and Allegations of Misconduct Policy.

The editorial team may request additional documentation, seek expert advice, contact the relevant research institution, or initiate other appropriate procedures in accordance with established publication ethics guidance.

Individuals accused of misconduct will normally be given an appropriate opportunity to respond before final editorial conclusions are reached.

The journal will distinguish between legitimate scientific disagreement, honest errors, methodological limitations, and potential misconduct.

All allegations will be assessed based on available evidence rather than speculation or personal accusations.

The journal will protect the confidentiality of sensitive information and the identities of individuals involved to the extent reasonably possible.

9. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions

When post-publication discussion identifies errors or substantial concerns affecting a published article, the editorial team will determine whether formal corrective action is necessary.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue, editorial action may include:

a. Editorial Clarification

An explanation may be provided when additional information is needed to clarify specific aspects of an article without changing the reliability of its principal findings.

b. Correction

A formal correction may be published when an article contains identifiable errors that require amendment but do not invalidate its main findings or conclusions.

c. Expression of Concern

An expression of concern may be issued when significant questions about the reliability or integrity of an article remain unresolved and readers should be informed while further assessment or investigation is ongoing.

d. Retraction

A retraction may be issued when the findings of an article are determined to be unreliable, when serious publication misconduct is established, or when other circumstances justify retraction under recognized publication ethics guidance.

All formal corrective notices must clearly identify and, where possible, link to the original published article.

The journal will maintain the transparency and traceability of the scholarly record in accordance with its Corrections and Retractions Policy.

10. Confidentiality and Ethical Conduct

All participants in post-publication discussion are expected to maintain professional standards, scholarly integrity, and respect for other individuals.

Comments and responses must be based on reasonable scientific arguments and supporting evidence.

The journal prohibits harassment, discriminatory statements, threats, defamatory allegations, unauthorized disclosure of confidential information, and other forms of inappropriate conduct.

The editorial team will handle confidential reports and sensitive supporting materials with appropriate care.

Where concerns require communication with authors, reviewers, institutions, or external experts, information will be shared only to the extent necessary for legitimate editorial assessment.

The journal encourages constructive scientific disagreement while protecting the rights and professional integrity of all individuals involved.

11. Editorial Decisions and Follow-Up

The Editor-in-Chief or designated editor is responsible for determining appropriate follow-up actions based on the nature, significance, and available evidence of a post-publication comment or concern.

Possible outcomes include:

  1. Closing the case when no substantive concern is identified.

  2. Requesting additional clarification from the commenter or authors.

  3. Publishing a relevant scientific comment or author response.

  4. Conducting an additional expert assessment.

  5. Issuing an editorial clarification or formal correction.

  6. Publishing an expression of concern or retraction when justified.

  7. Referring serious research integrity allegations to the relevant institution or oversight body.

Editorial decisions must be evidence-based, proportionate, and consistent with the journal's publication ethics policies.

The journal will document substantive concerns, communications, assessments, and editorial actions as appropriate.

Where feasible and appropriate, the individual submitting the concern will be informed of the outcome or the status of its editorial consideration.

12. Responsibilities of the Editorial Team and Authors

Editors are responsible for facilitating appropriate post-publication discussion, assessing credible concerns objectively, coordinating responses, and determining whether formal editorial action is required.

Authors are responsible for responding to reasonable requests for clarification, providing relevant supporting information, and cooperating with corrective procedures when necessary.

Readers and Commenters are responsible for presenting scholarly criticism accurately, respectfully, and with appropriate supporting evidence.

The Publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining accessible publication records, implementing necessary corrections, and protecting the integrity of published scholarly content.

13. Policy Implementation and Review

The journal will periodically review its post-publication discussion and review procedures to maintain alignment with recognized publication ethics principles and developments in scholarly communication.

This policy applies to all scholarly articles published by the journal, including articles for which concerns are raised after publication.

The journal remains committed to fostering responsible academic dialogue, addressing credible post-publication concerns, and maintaining the accuracy, credibility, and integrity of the scientific record.
